Why is equalities monitoring important?

When we talk about equalities monitoring, we mean gathering information on the personal characteristics of our service users.

To develop effective community learning and development activities and meet our legal requirements, it is essential to understand which individuals and groups within the community are using our services, what they think about the activities, and what their needs are for the future.

This means you can identify any gaps or inequalities, and work out how to address these.  Without some form of equalities monitoring, it is simply not possible to do this.
